For advertisers, advertising agencies and media buyers, the cost of media can represent the bulk of the marketing budget. Media plans are carefully prepared to maximise the effectiveness of dollars spent, so it is vital to confirm that the advertising has been placed accordingly.

To confirm compliance or otherwise with the agreed advertising schedule, clients rely on Nielsen Media AIS for the objective verification of advertising placement. Itemised spot monitoring reports are used by advertisers to cross check against booking and billing records. Advertising activity outside of agreed scheduled environments can be highlighted by the advertiser and restitution sought.

Nielsen Media AIS visually verifies every commercial placed on national television, including TVOne, TV2, TV3, C4, Prime TV, Sky 1, Sky Movies 1 and 2, and Sky Sport 1 and 2. We also spot check regional advertising for the main free-to-airs. National, metropolitan, regional and community newspapers are individually verified for activity and placement of display advertising. Magazines are monitored cover-to-cover. Cinema, radio, outdoor, online and letterbox advertising spend figures are submitted to us by various industry bodies, and NZ Post provide measures for addressed mail.
